Ingredients
Base and Meat
- 1 pre-baked 12-inch pizza crust
- 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ cup water
- 1 packet taco seasoning
Bean Mixture
- 1 can (16 ounces) refried beans
- ½ cup tomato salsa
Cheese and Toppings
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican blend cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 cups tortilla chips, crushed
- ¼ cup sliced black olives
- hot sauce (optional)
- fresh diced tomatoes
- chopped red bell pepper
- sliced green onions
- shredded lettuce
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425˚F (220˚C) to get it ready for baking the pizza.
- Cook Ground Beef and Onions: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and finely chopped onions until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 10 minutes. Drain any excess fat to keep the pizza from becoming greasy.
- Add Taco Seasoning: Stir in ½ cup water and the taco seasoning packet into the skillet. Continue cooking for 2 to 3 minutes until the liquid has mostly evaporated and the beef is well-coated with seasoning. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Prepare Bean Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the refried beans and tomato salsa. Mix them thoroughly until smooth and evenly blended.
- Spread Bean Mixture: Spread the refried bean and salsa mixture evenly over the pre-baked pizza crust, leaving a small border around the edges to prevent overflow while baking.
- Add Ground Beef Layer: Evenly spread the cooked seasoned ground beef and onion mixture over the refried beans layer on the pizza crust.
- Add Cheese and Chips: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese, mozzarella cheese, and crushed tortilla chips evenly over the beef layer to add cheesy, gooey goodness with a crunchy topping.
- Add Olives and Hot Sauce: Scatter the sliced black olives on top and add hot sauce if you desire a spicy kick.
- Bake the Pizza: Place the assembled pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly and the crust turns golden brown.
- Add Fresh Toppings: Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately top with fresh diced tomatoes, chopped red bell pepper, sliced green onions, and shredded lettuce for extra freshness and texture.
- Cut and Serve: Slice the pizza into six servings and enjoy your flavorful and fun taco-inspired meal.
