Description

Delicious and easy-to-make wonton taco cups filled with seasoned ground turkey, cheese, and a variety of fresh toppings. These bite-sized treats are perfect for parties, snacks, or a fun taco night alternative.

Ingredients

Meat Mixture

  • 1 Tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion, diced
  • 1 medium jalapeno, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 Tablespoons taco seasoning

Wonton Cups

  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • 4 oz. cheddar cheese, divided
  • Olive oil, for brushing

Optional Toppings

  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Pickled onions
  • Sour cream
  • Green onions
  • Black olives
  • Sliced avocado

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the taco cups.
  2. Make Taco Meat: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey, diced onion, and jalapeño. Cook thoroughly, breaking the meat apart with a wooden spoon and stirring frequently until the turkey is fully cooked.
  3. Add Garlic and Seasoning: Stir in the minced garlic and taco seasoning, cooking for an additional one to two minutes while stirring constantly. Remove the skillet from heat once combined.
  4. Prepare Wonton Cups: Spray a 12-cup muffin pan with baking spray. Place two wonton wrappers into each muffin cup, gently pressing them to avoid tearing. Lightly brush the tops of the wrappers with olive oil for a golden finish.
  5. Add Meat and Cheese: Sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese into the bottom of each wonton cup. Then evenly divide the ground turkey mixture among the cups, topping each with the remaining cheese.
  6. Bake: Bake the wonton taco cups in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until they turn golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  7. Add Toppings: Carefully remove the taco cups from the muffin pan and place them on a serving plate. Add your choice of optional toppings such as sliced tomatoes, pickled onions, sour cream, green onions, black olives, and sliced avocado.

Notes

  • Be gentle when placing wonton wrappers in the muffin cups to prevent tearing.
  • Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preference or dietary needs.
  • Use ground chicken or beef as an alternative to ground turkey if desired.
  • To make these gluten-free, substitute wonton wrappers with gluten-free wrappers or small tortilla rounds.
  • Serve warm for the best taste and texture.
